Every Which Way

Branding and identity for Every Which Way, the BA Graphic Design Communication Year 3 Final Degree Show at UAL Chelsea College of Arts. Inspired by third-year students finding direction, both personal and literal, we created a clean brand/identity system adaptable to multiple use cases.

Identity

A system built to guide,
not compete
We developed a minimal, Swiss-inspired identity system for Every Which Way, rooted in the concept of direction—both personal and literal. The custom logomark combines multiple arrows pointing in different directions, paired with a triangle that subtly references the Triangle Space, the exhibition’s venue. In response to the brief’s emphasis on wayfinding, clarity, and playfulness—alongside the need for a more reserved, gallery-like tone—we designed a brand toolkit that is clean, adaptable, and visually succinct. Rather than overshadow the students’ work, the identity was built to quietly frame it. It includes a suite of logo variations, clean patterns, and a calm neutral monochrome palette. Typography from Suisse Intl reinforces the tone—guiding rather than distracting, and leaving space for each student's work to take the spotlight.

ActivatioN - Socials

Bringing the identity to life through socials and motion
To support and promote the degree show, we activated the Every Which Way brand across a range of social media content—from Instagram posts and stories for the auction fundraiser to digital invites and show announcements. The identity came to life through creative-coded and 3D motion graphics, used both in promo material and as visuals for the auction livestream. These assets captured the playful energy of the event while maintaining the brand’s clean, directional structure—striking a balance between excitement and clarity.

A digital extension of the exhibition experience
The Every Which Way branding found its place on a website that showcased the work of Year 3 students. Designed to be a digital extension of the exhibition, the site featured interactive elements and easy navigation, offering visitors a seamless experience both online and offline.

ActivatioN - Exhibition

Translating identity into environmental designFor Every Which Way, the branding and identity system came to life in the exhibition space at the BA Graphic Design Communication Year 3 Final Degree Show at UAL Chelsea College of Arts. The design elements were seamlessly integrated throughout the exhibition, from wayfinding signage to wall graphics, creating a cohesive visual experience that guided visitors through the space. By focusing on the theme of "finding direction," the branding helped establish a clear yet playful environment where the students' work could truly shine.

Consistent design for seamless navigation
The Every Which Way branding extended to the name and caption cards for each student’s project, where the identity system played a key role in creating a clean, consistent look across the exhibition. With simple layouts, clear typography, and subtle iconography, the cards guided visitors through the space without overwhelming them. The design kept everything intuitive and uncluttered, making it easy for guests to explore the projects while reinforcing the exhibition's theme of finding direction.
